It rained all night, however it was NOT raining when the taxi called for us at Ambleside for the run to Grassmere.
It was raining by the time we arrived, and Arrienne, Peter and I huddled in the little shelter available as the taxi returned for Margaret and Eve.

It was a climb for over an hour to Grisedale Beck, with the rain starting once again. The views were quite good looking back to Grassmere, down the valley over the Tongue.
We then reached our days summit, then over into the Grisedale Tarn, a lovely lake which was shrouded in mist initially.
Gradually the mist lifted and the tarn was revealed, surrounded by hills.

Of course once we were thoroughly wet, the sun emerged and we walked in the dry for a while, until the capricious weather started on us again.
With the rain and mist the views of the famous Helvellyn and Striding Edge were missing and we had to content ourselves with the very good pictures in the pub at dinner.
It was a short day, our accommodation was available, however our bags weren’t, having not arrived.
It was then a frustrating 2 hour wait until they were delivered, a time in which we could do very little, having no dry clothes or shoes etc.
We had to content ourselves with watching the British Parliament debate Libya and what a good job they had done.
Bags finally here, showered and dressed we hit the town, of about 5 shops, including a very well stocked outdoor shop!
Dinner at the pub, good, yet mean serves, such that Eve ordered an entree to make up for her chicken dish that had about five small pieces of the meat.
My spaghetti was excellent, with chilli and parmesan and garlic, though I paid for that with some heartburn later in the night. The serve was also mean.
The pub did have wi-fi however at one pound for half an hour I didn’t get that much done.
Back at the B and B, it was The Coast (a repeat) then Grand Designs Revisited (a repeat).
Sleep was good until the heartburn and once that settled, sleep good again, though the rain on the window was pretty constant all night. We had some minor flooding as the window was open for fresh air and of course that was the direction the rain came from.
I type this on the stairs, first thing in the morning, looking out the front door with the wind blowing and rain.
Another wet day!
